Breathing, sleeping and errr... eating invitations.

I had mental list of wedding related things to be excited about and right up there was of course making my own invitations.

I have so far spent many, many hours planning, buying and actually making the invitations but have still not yet finished. The palm of my hand is slightly bruised from the repeated stamping, I have stickles in my hair and my fingers have a 'walnut stain' tint that just won't go away. I thought I might share some of the 'fun' I've been having...

Happy New Year!

Ok, so it's been a fair while since I last posted on my blog...BUT...I have been busy, my boyfriend and I went on a trip to New York over Christmas, and I've come back with a v. bling ring on my finger!!

So, obviously I was very happy and thinking about the rest of our lives and our happy marriage and future children etc etc blah blah, but a close second after all that I was thinking "yay! wedding invitations!!" I have already started designing them but no drafts so far have made me happy. I think the wedding brain has taken over my craft mojo!

Anyhoo, back to the blogs for inspiration I think ! xxx

My Boys...

QVC have got some 'last clicks' clearance deals on at the moment, and I saw a My Minds Eye 'Portobello Road - Family' kit for a fiver. It included the buttons which I seem to remember were almost a fiver on their own! So, with my unconventional family all being made up of boys I thought the kit seemed fitting and did a 12 x 12 layout with it. It's the first 12 x 12 I've done in literally months!

My take on the 7 Gypsies Library Draw...

For this project I was inspired by the 7Gypsies ‘Library Drawer’ but wanted to create something a bit larger and more personalised.

The box itself stands on Tim Holtz ‘Foundations’ and is decorated in 7Gypsies ‘Collage Tissue Paper’ applied with ‘ModPodge.’ I stamped on the tissue paper itself using PaperArtsy ‘Hot Picks 1007’ and Tim Holtz ‘Distress Embossing Powder.’ The front has a few items to embellish the box, including Tim Holtz ‘Ornate Plates’ and ‘Philosophy Tags.’ The box is divided up into years and for each year I have created mini-layouts using a variety of patterned papers, stamps, inks and embellishments. It’s great to be able to easily add to and flick through when the desire takes you!

Yay! New toy!

Today is a good day... I finally got my Bind-it-All delivered the other day, but alas due to some problems with an online craft shop my binding rings were no where to be found! Once again though, Kim saved the day and gave me a one so I could have a play.

So, today with this:

<--- Very sexy machine

I made this:

I also have something else coming through the post soon. Thanks to my boyfriends habit of throwing things around the house, he knocked one of my beloved box frames (painted with a crackle glaze I might add of which I no longer have!) off the wall and it broke into about 100 pieces. No exaggeration there at all : /

So, I handed it him is credit card and told him what he was buying me in return. It shall be delivered soon and I will post of photo of it up here when it does! I love my boyfriend so much....

Scrapaholix Kit

Yesterday was my Scrapaholix day - the papers this month were great and really easy to work with. I did an 8x8 page as I'm quite into that size at the moment and have some fab 8x8 albums for them to go into!

I still feel like this page isn't quite finished, but have no idea what else I could add. I'll put it in front of me on my craft table and hope something springs to mind...

Happy Sunday! Marie x

Jewellery Stand

Here is my lastest creation, inspired by my love of the dress form and my need for somewhere to keep my tonne of necklaces.

My starting point was a metal jewellery stand and a papier-mรขchรฉ dress form. I sawed the stand in half and inserted into the dress form using hot glue to secure. Using ‘ModPodge’ I covered the dress in patterned paper from BoBunny’s ‘ETC’ range. With some paper I sewed around the edge using a sewing machine to give it a textured look, with other paper I stamped on using the Tim Holtz ‘Haberdashery’ range and also Crafty Individuals ‘324’ and inked around the edges using Tim Holtz ‘Distress Inks’ and embossed.

To embellish, I made a skirt by sewing and pleating a BoBunny ‘Ribbon Wrap’ and a ruler ribbon as a belt.  To complete I used a BoBunny ‘Petals’ flower, some dress pins, gems and sentiment stickers and inked flowers using Tim Holtz ‘Tattered Florals.’
